For 28 years, Bob Shartle has led research, development, manufacturing, and engineering efforts at various life science companies. He’s pioneered the use of microfluidics in diagnostics, and is an inventor on 25 patents. He’s held both design and management positions at LifeScan (J&J), Biometric Imaging (BD), Biotrack (Roche), Nellcor (Tyco), and Raychem (Tyco), while developing glucose, coagulation, cytometry, and therapeutic drug monitoring systems. As a registered U.S. Patent Agent, he’s directed patent estate groups within R&D, aggressively creating intellectual property. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
