Frederick W. Gluck
Chairman
Mr. Gluck is a former managing partner (CEO) of McKinsey & Company, Inc., the international management consulting firm (1967-1995; Managing Director: 1988-1994). Fred retired from McKinsey in 1995 and joined the Bechtel Group where he served as Vice-Chairman and Director. Fred retired from Bechtel in July 1998 and rejoined McKinsey and Company as a consultant until retiring again in July 2003. Mr. Gluck’s business board memberships include AMGEN (Thousand Oaks, CA) [NASDAQ], and HCA (Nashville, TN) [NYSE] where he is Presiding Director. Mr. Gluck also serves as Director of a number of eleemosynary organizations, including the Cottage Health System (Santa Barbara, CA), the Foundation Board of the University of California, Santa Barbara, the Kavli Institute of theoretical Physics and The New York Presbyterian Hospital (Emeritus).

Alan J. Heeger, Ph.D.
Vice-Chair
Prof. Heeger is widely known for his pioneering research in and the co-founding of the field of semiconducting and metallic polymers. He has more than 700 publications in scientific journals and holds approximately 50 patents. He founded UNIAX Corporation in 1990, which was acquired by DuPont in 2000. Prof. Heeger serves on the Board of Directors of Konarka Technologies Inc. and he is a Venture Partner in NGen Partners, a materials-based venture capital firm in Santa Barbara. He is Chairman of Diode Solutions Inc. in Santa Barbara, a new start-up that is focusing on opportunities for printing “plastic electronics”. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including most notably the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2000). He is a member of the National Academy of Science (USA), and the National Academy of Engineering (USA).

Simon Raab, Ph.D.
Dr. Simon Raab co-founded FARO Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:FARO) in 1981. He served as Faro’s President, CEO and chairman until 2005, growing the company from a technology startup to a publicly traded $150+ million company with tens of thousands of customers and installations globally, including Boeing, DaimlerChrysler, Airbus, General Motors, Johnson Controls, Caterpillar and Honda.
Dr. Raab is currently the chairman of Novim and serves as Director of TrueVision Systems, Inc. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, a Masters of Engineering Physics from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Biophysics from the University of Waterloo, Canada.

Amit Munshi
Mr. Munshi is president and CEO of PERCIVIA, LLC (www.percivia.com), a venture formed to develop therapeutics using the PER.C6® human cell line. He is also the co-founder and former Chief Business Officer of Kythera Biopharmaceuticals Inc. (www.kytherabiopharma.com), a venture-backed company focused on novel prescription products in the field of aesthetic medicine. Under his leadership, Kythera successfully commercialized technology licensed from academia and large bio-pharmaceutical companies, recently completing a $373 million license transaction with a division of Bayer Healthcare AG.
Prior to co-founding Kythera, Mr. Munshi served as the General Manager of Amgen’s $700 million European Nephrology Business based in Switzerland. He has also held positions in sales, market research, marketing, managed care, and product licensing during tenures at Astra Merck and IOLAB Corporation (a Johnson & Johnson Company).

Harry Gelles
Mr. Gelles has been in the investment business since 1958. He was with the Del Webb Corporation in Phoenix as Vice President of Finance. He was in the investment banking industry for ten years with Goldman Sachs as Vice President in Los Angeles, a partner at White Weld and a Managing Director at Dean Witter. After retiring from investment banking, Harry taught an investment course at UCLA graduate school. He then joined Russell Reynolds Associates as a Managing Director, managing the LA office. Harry graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Graduate School of Management. He has served on a number of charitable and business boards including the National M.S. Society, Lobero Theater, Transition House, Financial Corporation of Santa Barbara, Trico Industries, Chelsea Management Company, Crest Steel Corporation, Clark Metals and AmeriVest Properties Inc.

Hyongsok (Tom) Soh,
Ph.D.
Dr. Soh is a Professor of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He received his B.S. with a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science with Distinction from Cornell University, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Prior to joining UCSB in 2003, Tom served as the technical manager of MEMS Device Research Group at Bell Laboratories (later at Agere Systems). He is affiliated with the Institute for Collaborative Biotechnologies and the California Nanosystems Institute. He is the recipient of the MIT Technology Review’s “TR 100″ Award (2002), ONR Young Investigator Award (2004), and Beckman Young Investigator Award (2005). Tom has received many national and international awards, has published over 40 technical articles and one book, and holds 10 issued patents.
